2001 Bordeaux “The Forgotten Vintage”

We are pleased to present an offering of a wide variety of 2001 Bordeaux at excellent prices ! 2001 has shaped up to be a very interesting vintage. Following the much hyped 2000’s the wines were somewhat forgotten by consumers (or consumers had blown their budgets on the 2000’s!). Overall, the wines have evolved with excellent aromatics and structure, and many “show” quite well right now, although a few more years in the bottle certainly won’t hurt. The 2001’s have always had good acidity and this adds a pleasing element of freshness and focus. Purchased with a much stronger dollar, there is excellent value here. These are the wines to drink while your 2000’s and 2005’s sleep in the cellar.
Of course, this was an epic vintage for Sauternes. While many wines have since sold out, there are a few on the list here and this is an opportunity to backfill on what will end up being a historic vintage for the magical sweet wines of Sauternes and Barsac.
