Wine dinner with Thomas Haag of Weingut Schloss Lieser
Wednesday, February 22, 7:00PM
701 Restaurant
701 Pennsylvania Avenue, Northwest
(202) 393-0701
German wine lovers take note! We are thrilled that one of the best wine makers in Germany is making a rare appearance in Washington. Started around 1900, this estate holds some of the best and steepest vineyard sites on the Middle Mosel with grades up to 70%. The estate was highly regarded until its decline in postwar Germany. When Thomas, the son of Wilhelm Haag (the owner of the famous estate Fritz Haag) started in 1992, the estate quickly shot up to the top of Germany’s wineries and is considered among the top 100 estates. Back to its best! These are some of the most exciting wines being made in Germany today. Thomas also very graciously has allowed us to showcase some of his brother Oliver’s wines (Weingut Fritz Haag) as well. This is going to be a very fun evening with an exciting menu to boot. Don’t miss it.
