Beautifully polished and bright, the 2013 Montecucco Sangiovese Riserva Poggio Lombrone is a pure expression of Sangiovese from the wild and rustic hills of the Montecucco appellation along the Tuscan coast. This wine is fermented in open cone-shaped oak vats with gentle, manual punch-downs and longer maceration times. Fruit is sourced from 50-year-old vines planted in tufaceous clay and calcareous marl soils on a breezy perch located 300 meters above sea level. This is a beautiful creation with an impressive sense of cherry brightness and purity of fruit.
