The 2013 Rosso ?poca is a 70/30 blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, aged for 24 months in 30% new French oak (the rest three to four years old). It comes in at 14% alcohol. This is fruity and fresh. The mid-palate is just concentrated enough, but it is the freshness that makes this seem very refined and appealing. Silky in texture, with moderate tannins, it also shows pure, clean fruit on the finish, belying that long time in oak. This has a certain understatement, but it also has a certain sophistication to it that will make you appreciate it more as you drink it.
