This is one of those Selbach-Oster 2018s to exhibit a faintly spirituous, high-toned aura - here suggestive of Calvados - though the nose also fascinatingly exhibits the salinity of sea spray and a hint of honeysuckle as well as site-typical nuttiness. That bittersweet nuttiness and rich, lightly baked apple, quince and mirabelle are ideally complemented by the wine's subtle sweetness and textural creaminess. The finish lingers soothingly with still-generous fruit underlain by wet stone.
