For centuries, locals have spiced and flavored rum in the Caribbean. On Martinique, Shrubb (local orange liqueur) is considered one of the prized drinks in almost every household. Made by macerating orange peels in La Favorite rhum agricole, then adding raw Martinique sugar to taste, the resulting rich orange liqueur is sipped straight, over ice, or in cocktails. Shrubb is also used in confection icing. There are no other flavorings used to make this liqueur.
