The 2016 Boekenhoutskloof Franschhoek Cabernet Sauvignon comes from four adjacent vineyards and one Cabernet Franc parcel, matured in 100% new French barriques for 18 months and the Cabernet Franc barrel-fermented. It has a lifted bouquet, very Left Bank in style, revealing a touch of mint with time. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannin and a sprinkling of black pepper, and just a little more delineation on the finish than the Stellenbosch Cabernet Sauvignon. A steadfast, trustworthy Cabernet Sauvignon that should give a decade of drinking pleasure.
