This wine pours from the bottle with an inky black appearance, the result of super concentrated fruit in this hot and dry vintage. The Paolo Conterno 2017 Barbera d'Alba La Ginestra is rich, soft, earthy and almost sweet. It is never heavy. The natural acidity of the Barbera grape and the cool Ginestra growing site with 25-year-old vines give the wine enough balancing acidity. The wine is put on the market when the previous vintage is sold out, so we should expect this release of 9,000 bottles to be hitting the market now.
