The 2019 Puligny-Montrachet Le Champ Gain 1er Cru comes from a 0.20-hectare plot of 35-year-old vines. The bouquet offers discreet scents of lemon curd and vervain tea on the nose, which is a little leesy at the moment (this sample was taken from a barrel on its finings). The palate is well balanced with citrus peel, freshly sliced pear and a very light touch of gooseberry. Good acidity, maybe just missing a little persistence on the finish, but it conveys a sense of energy and a satisfying linearity.
