The 2018 Bolgheri Rosso Volpolo is an organic blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot and 15% Petit Verdot aged in barrique for 14 months. This vintage saw cool temperatures in the spring and warmed up considerably toward the end of the ripening season. This Tuscan blend reveals dark fruit and cherry with mild spice and tobacco. There is a nice informality to this wine, something you might pair with a plate of polpette (meatballs) in tomato sauce, and although the palate shows moderate intensity and length, this vintage delivers an accessible and easy-drinking treat from the coast of Tuscany.
