Made by brothers Eduardo and Jaime Orendain in the town of Tequila, Gran Clase is the premium tequila coming from the El Llano distillery (NOM 1109). Agaves for this expression are hand-selected in the field by the Orendains to be harvested only for this expression. The mosto is fermented naturally in traditional stone tanks, which added with the over-ripeness of the agaves, creates a sweetness evident in the final product. Gran Clase is aged for 48 months in single barrel bourbon American oak barrels so if you're a bourbon fan, add this one to your cocktail cart. Aromas: Agave-forward, with mild wood notes, sweet tropical fruit balanced with light jalapeno, bell pepper unique to this lowlands Extra Añejo. Palate: Fresh cut wood, dark caramel sweetness with traces of malt and vanilla. Finish: Slightly thick, with a bright and spicy finish. Balanced complexity without over-powering oak.
