The 2019 Marsannay Clos du Roy is one cuvee that shows just a hint, and it is just a hint, of sur-maturite. Light prune-like aromas tincture the red berry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, fleshy and quite compact, silky smooth in texture with a melange of red/blue fruit laced with white pepper on the finish. Seductive, but it will need a couple of years in bottle.
