From a great appellation south of Monterey, the 2018 Pinot Noir Santa Lucia Highlands sports a deep ruby/plum hue to go with a big, up-front bouquet of redcurrants, sassafras, spice, flowers, and damp underbrush. It's also beautiful on the palate, and while it leads with its fruit, it has solid underlying structure, good mid-palate depth, and outstanding length.
