The 2019 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Pruliers 1er Cru was a little more reduced than Gouges's other cuvees, opening gradually to reveal blackberry, wild hedgerow and incense. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, lithe and silky in the mouth, and fleshy with a judicious touch of white pepper toward the finish. The shortfall in grip and substance is sufficiently compensated with elegance.
