The 2018 Soave Classico Monte Grande is intense, wafting up masses of crushed stone and mineral tones, dusty florals and notes of green apple. The textures are enveloping, soft and smooth, supported by stimulating acidity and minerals, while ushering in orchard fruits but also a hint of tart tropical citrus, which adds an exotic note. That said, the Monte Grande is more savory than sweet, with an herbal twang through the finale, complemented by hints of raw almond. This is vinified all in stainless steel, mixing 70% overripe Garganega with 30% Trebbiano di Soave, which balances with its elevated acidity, creating a gorgeous expression of Soave.
