The 2015 Primitivo Riserva blossoms slowly with a bouquet of crushed stone and flowery undergrowth that evolves, deepening, yet somehow also gaining lift, as ripe plum, tart cherry and brown spice are offset by nuances of sage and sour citrus. This is silky-smooth and pliant in feel, offering a savory display of black fruit complicated by notes of licorice and saline-minerality. Its purple-tinged finale seems to linger for up to a minute, yet it stays remarkably fresh and perfumed, with just a hint of sweet tannin that frames the experience quite well. This incredibly pretty and harmonious Primitivo is sure to win a lot of hearts.
