It might be the power of suggestion of the wine’s name, but Alpine Rift's 2021 Sauvignon Blanc offers glacial purity. Don’t expect a sweaty, tropical style; this is much more herbal and fresh-faced. There’s an attractive and distinctive fennel bite among the lemon and elderflower notes. It’s surprisingly weighty while maintaining a light zippiness (okay, folks, hands up, zippiness isn’t in the dictionary). The finish is dry, clean and clear. This is a delightful wine, but it needs greater concentration and length to achieve a higher rating.
