The 2001 Pavie-Macquin is sublime. It might not be the most typical PavieMacquin, but it sure is compelling. There is a sense of translucence and aromatic intensity that is decidedly Burgundian. Silky, nuanced and medium in body, the 2001 is sublime from the very first taste. It is without question one of the most beautiful and alluring wines in this lineup. My only concern with the 2001 is that it might not be extremely long-lived. Then again, it has made it this far, and done so in grand style.
