Moderate wood sets off smoky aromas of mostly white orchard fruit, citrus blossom and exotic tea. In contrast to many examples of Bâtard in the 2020 vintage that are broad-shouldered and extremely rich, here the palate impression is much like that of the Corton-Charlemagne with its tightly wound, intense and precise flavors that also culminate in a linear, strict and built-to-age finale. It would be largely pointless to open a bottle before a minimum of 5 years.
