A mix of cherry, raspberry and blueberry sauces is complemented by sweet herbs and hints of allspice as the 2017 Amarone della Valpolicella blossoms in the glass. Its velvety textures flood the palate, with pure elegance of fruit leaning toward red and blue in an opulent yet deep mix. The word “seamless” comes to mind, as this tapers off long and spicy, lightly structured and harmonious, leaving wild berries and violet flowers to linger. The 2017 Amarone is a showboat but wonderfully balanced.
