The 2018 Bonarda El Enemigo comes from east Mendoza. It has a 15% dash of Cabernet Franc and was aged for 15 months in old foudres. Garnet red with purple flecks, the nose offers raspberry and ash with hints of jalapeño that bring greater outline and depth to the aromas. Beginning expansively on the palate, the flow then tightens up with moderate freshness and a terse, tacky texture. The Franc adds grip and linearity before the long finish.
