Checking in as 80% Grenache and 10% each of Syrah and Mourvedre, from vines planted in 1936, the 2012 Cotes du Ventoux II Etait Une Fois had the Grenache brought up in a single foudre and a single concrete egg, and the Mourvedre and Syrah in new barrels. There's a tiny 700 cases out there, and 2012 is Sebastien's favorite vintage as every cuvee is unique for its elegance. Offering beautiful notes of spiced cherries, flowers and wild strawberries, with loads of Grenache charm, this full-bodied elegant and seamless 2012 is impeccably balanced, has a great mid-palate and no shortage of length. In short, it's a killer Grenache from the Ventoux to enjoy over the coming 5-6 years.
