The 2017 Detzemer Maximin Klosterlay Riesling is discreet, pure and flinty on the slatey, floral and herbal-scented nose that's rather feminine and crystalline. The weathered blue slate soils give a charmingly creamy, round and textured Riesling with a powerful, juicy finish and some grams of residual sugar. This is an excellent Riesling for people who fear the grape's classically pronounced acidity. This is a rather mild and elegant Riesling to be served with food.
