A blend of 60% Grenache, 30% Syrah and 5% each Cinsault and Mourvedre, the 2019 Cotes du Rhone Villages Plan de Dieu spent just a few months in concrete prior to bottling. It's dark and intensely colored, with notes of black cherries and plums dominating the nose. Full-bodied and chunky on the palate, it lacks elegance when compared to the estate's bottling from Sablet but makes up for it in raw power and concentration, finishing long and softly dusty. This estate of 87 hectares has been farmed organically since 2010, with holdings in and around Sablet, Plan de Dieu and Gigondas. Produced from destemmed fruit and absent oak influence, the bottlings from Cotes du Rhone, Plan de Dieu and Sablet represent exceptional values.
