Assembled in the very best plots of the domaine and made only in great vintages, Trimbach's bright-colored 2017 Pinot Gris Réserve Personnelle opens with a clear, fresh and aromatic bouquet of fully ripe white fruit with hints of caramel. Mouth-filling and round on the palate, this is a complex and vivaciously mineral Pinot Gris with stimulating grip and tension on the long and powerful yet also elegant, persistently saline and lemony finish. This is a superb Pinot Gris that luckily did not ferment to fully dry but to remarkable balance. This is a great Alsace Pinot Gris to be served with lobster, poultry or white meats. Natural cork. Tasted in January 2023.

From a couple of vineyards, one next to Osterberg. Acidity 6.2 g/l, and RS 15 g/l. This sounds weird, but the flavours of this wine start off like flat-white coffee with a shot of caramel! Then peppermint cream giving way to masses of purple florals – irises and violets. It’s a little bit heady; ‘boudoir’, in a good way. It’s curvy and caressing, creamy and languid, with long, breathy warmth lingering on the end. Very complex, very unusual, very striking. (TC) 14% Drink 2023 – 2030
