The 2022 Volnay Les Caillerets 1er Cru shows the more nervy side of the village vis-à-vis the other Volnays in the range. White pepper, chalk, mint and crushed rocks add notable aromatic lift. There’s gorgeous precision here, but readers will have to be patient, as the 2022 clearly needs time to be at it best. The 75% new oak is nicely judged
