The 2022 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru has a more generous and expressive bouquet than the Clos de Vougeot: black cherries and wild strawberries, just a bit of reduction to wade through at the moment. The palate is medium-bodied with a sapid, quite structured entry. Grippy in the mouth, a solid Mazoyères-like Charmes with a dash of peppercorns on the finish. Solid and a bit unyielding at the moment; this is one to cellar for several years before broaching.
