Tasted at the chateau with Henri Lurton. The 1983 Brane-Cantenac has a wonderful bouquet with exceptionally fine delineation of blackberry, leather, pine needles and graphite, developing a faint truffle scent with aeration. The palate is very elegant and refined, just the kind of mature Margaux that I adore. Supple tannins, hints of star anise, gaining depth towards the finish but always composed and with a sense of restraint. It fleshes out nicely in the glass and ameliorates into a gorgeous wine.
