The 2022 Riesling Ayler Kupp Grosses Gewächs No. 18 was harvested in the steep mid-slope of the Ayler Kupp. Lauer points out that he is adamant that no overripe grapes are used for this. Ripe lemon peel with top notes of crushed citrus leaf and fresh yellow apple play on the nose. With more air, the lemon gets even more serene. The palate is fluid, rich but toned, with stony, savory yeastiness embracing the lemony fruit. Something cool emanates from the core, salty, stony and intense. Resonance of citrus fills the mind.
