A blend of 68% Cabernet Sauvignon and 32% Syrah. The Syrah comes from Westwood's 14.9ha biodynamically farmed estate Annadel Gap Vineyard, while the Cabernet comes from organic and sustainably farmed sites in Sonoma County and Napa Valley. The wine lots were fermented in stainless steel tanks and a French oak upright tank, with an average of 25% whole clusters, spending up to 2 days cold soaking and 14 days on skins and aged 20 months in 70% new French oak barrels. It's terrifically savoury with meaty, robust tannins. Notes of black cherry and cassis are infused with incense, leather, and white pepper, with fresh underbrush and deep forest fern character. Those palate-etching tannins are firm and resolve with crushed stone mineral and saline notes through the long finish.
