One of the Best Buys from Bordeaux today are classed growth wines from the excellent 2014 vintage. Here are 3 of our favorite wines from 2014 at the Lowest Price in the Country!

2014 has become a bit of a 'forgotten' vintage after the 2015s & 16s and therefore is a bargain compared to these vintages. The harvest was a leisurely, relaxed affair and many growers picked late to take advantage of the optimum weather. The reds were more classic and some very distinguished examples were made. The best wines had concentrated, pure fruit, good acidity and smooth easy tannins. Although many wines were approachable in nature, they were Not lacking complexity. The Cabernet Sauvignon-forward wines of Left Bank estates in Pauillac, Margaux, Saint-Estèphe, Pessac-Léognan and Saint-Julien were particularly successful. Although, great examples can be found throughout Bordeaux. Overall, it is a great vintage and many of the wines will be drinking extremely well now with the best examples likely to cellar well for years to come.

2014 Chateau d'Issan - Margaux
Complex aromas of sweet tobacco, chocolate, cedar and plums. Undertones of blackcurrants and dark chocolate. Dense and tight with a beautifully and tightly knit palate, yet this shows so much intensity and length. Love the wet-earth and berry character on the finish. Give this three to four years to soften even if it's fantastic already to taste.

2014 Chateau La Lagune - Medoc
The 2014 La Lagune has a tightly wound bouquet that may have closed down since I last tasted it. It begins to open with blackberry, graphite and wet limestone scents, quite strict and focused, but very well defined and showing great clarity. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, and density with a little chalkiness showing towards the second half. I like the tension and energy, lingering long in the mouth. It will need several years in bottle but it will be worth the wait.

2014 Chateau Malartic Lagraviere - Pessac
The 2014 Malartic-Lagravière is a gorgeous wine, but it is also flamboyant and exotic, especially in its flavor profile. Super-ripe red cherry and plum make a strong first impression. Sweet floral and spice notes, along with ripe, silky tannins, add to the wine's sensuality. A rich, powerful wine with soft contours and striking depth, the 2014 is a real beauty.
