The Winery was founded by Giorgio Badin and his family in 1988, moving the family business from livestock to wine. Production steadily grew from 3,000 bottles per year when they first started to over 150,000 bottles annually today. The vineyards are located in the Isonzo del Friuli appellation on small plains created by the tributaries of the Isonzo River that feed into the Adriatic Sea. "Poor, stony and dry soils are perfect for limiting grapevine vigor and creating elegant expressions."
2019 MALVASIA "VIGNA DELLA PERMUTA"| RONCO DEL GELSO
The climate and gravelly soils of the Isonzo plain are ideal for this grape variety, which prefers warm, dry soils not too far from the sea.
Fermented in steel, it always has a characteristic salty acidity and long body, with a distinctive, highly recognizable personality.
Marine sensations are apparent on the nose, along with notes of star anise and ripe fruit, together with the typical spiciness of Isonzo wines.
"The 2019 Malvasia Vigna della Permuta lifts from the glass with a burst of pungent florals that evolve into a more refined mix of freshly sliced apples, peach skins, and smoke. This is silky, nearly oily in texture with ripe yellow pit fruits and spiced citrus coming across as potent, yet finessed and youthfully inward. It leaves a stain of concentration while closing with a note of sour melon and hints of tangerine. There's so much depth here but patience will be required to enjoy it fully."

2019 FRIULANO "TOC BAS"| RONCO DEL GELSO
Made from Friulano grapes grown in vineyards in the lower area of Cormons. Like many other Italian native grape varieties, it has a flavor far removed from the so-called international taste you might find with Chadonnay or Sauvignon Blanc, but does make a significant mark in style. The fruity notes of apples, peaches and apricots are transition to a body with hints of hazelnuts and bitter almond complexity on the finish. It is a glycerin rich wine with firm body, characterized by light tannins reminiscent of licorice. It has a slightly bitter aftertaste, but surprisingly this gives it finesse and nobility. It is noted to have a handsome greenish color.
"The 2019 Friulano Rive Alte Toc Bas is a smoky and deeply alluring, as brown spices and crushed rocks give way to the flinty young peach. Its silky and round in feel with a balance of mineral tinged pear and hints of dried citrus. This leaves nuances of lime and saline minerals as it tapers off lighly structued and remarkably fresh. The 2019 Toc bas is so beautiful today yet also has the potential for midterm cellaring."

LATIMIS 2019| RONCO DEL GELSO
A blend of Pinot Bianco, Riesling and a small amount of Traminer Aromatico, in proportions that vary from vintage to vintage. Its personality is closely associated with the presence of Riesling and Traminer, which give an aromatic German-Alsatian style and character, while Pinot Bianco provides a delicate ripe fruit. It is fermented in steel and aged in 2,500-litre oak barrels, where it remains on the lees for 12 months. The grape varieties mingle well creating a big, balanced, concentrated wine.
"The 2019 Bianco Latimis wafts up with a subtle yet rich mix of brown spice and dried flowers offsetting hints of baked pear. It's pure elegance on the palate, silky and seamlessly smooth, with pleasantly ripe orchard fruits and saline minerals that amass toward the close. This leaves a youthful concentration upon the palate along with nuances of custard, while finishing structured and a bit chewy. The Bianco is a blend of Friulano, Riesling ,Pinot bianco and Traminor Aromatico."
