Remhooghte is a family winery with vineyards on the foothills of the Simonsberg mountain, Stellenbosch. Our wines are a product of ancient soils, steep slopes and winds off the cold Atlantic Ocean. They tell the story of the vineyards, our heritage and passion for winemaking and preserving the land for future generations. Our aim is to bring joy to all who experience our wines and to make them feel a part of the Remhoogte family.
2017 Aspect Merlot Remhoogte Stellenbosch
Our merlot vineyard is situated high up on the steep shale slopes of Remhoogte, this cool southerly facing slope is the ideal Aspect for merlot in Stellenbosch. Our merlot is classic in style showing juicy dark fruit on the entry with a broad chalky tannin and fresh acidity bringing balance and length.
2019 Vantage Pinotage Remhoogte Stellenbosch
Our Pinotage is produced from 2 hectares of bush vines planted high up on a granitic ridge with a beautiful Vantage point over the historic town of Stellenbosch and the surrounding mountains. 2021 Free to Be Carbonic Syrah Remhoogte Stellenbosch
Our 2021 Free to be Red is a whole bunch, carbonic style Syrah produced from our Syrah vineyard on the Estate. Fermented as whole bunched in concrete tank and matured in the same tank for 12 months creates a deliciously fresh and elegant wine with a wonderfully perfumy aroma of black currents, cloves and violet.
2016 Sir Thomas Cullinan Reserve Red Blend
Named after our renowned great grandfather, the Sir Thomas Cullinan is our flagship wine. Individual vineyard rows of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon are selected and fermented in small batches followed by a barrel section showing the very best from Remhoogte. The wine is complex and concentrated showing black cherries, plums as well as savory notes of olives and black pepper with broad polished tannins and a medium plush acidity that leads to a lengthy finish. 93 pts Tim Atkins
