2016 Grasso Barbaresco Vallegrande

With more than 50 years of experience, the Grasso brothers have nurtured their cru vineyards to produce a remarkably authentic Barbaresco. Barbaresco is often times called the "Queen of Nebbiolo" because it is thought to be less powerful than Barolo. This single vineyard Cru Vallegrande will give Barolo a run for its money. A wine full of character that is deep in color and flavor, dark wild fruits of black cherry and cassis, with violet and rose, forest floor, spice, and tar.

Bordiga Bianco Vermouth di Torino

The Bordiga distillery was founded in 1888 by Pietro Bordiga, a passionate bartender and herbalist, who was living in the northern Italian city of Torino (Turin) at the foot of the Alps. The distillery is still family owned today after 134yrs and known as one of the best vermouth producers in all of Italy. This classic vermouth bianco is based on Piedmontese white wines, including Moscato and Cortese, and infused with a wide range of different botanicals, many of them grown in the Occitan Alps near the winery. The flavor of this vermouth is complex and vivid, with an excellent balance of sweetness and bitterness. Some vermouths taste strongly of a single botanical, but the interplay of components here is distinctive and delicious. We drink it with a splash of soda water as an aperitivo, and you should too.

Macchia Rosso Vermouth di Sardinia

Emilio Rocchino came to Sardinia from Salerno in 2006 looking for work and began bartending in the famous town of Porto Rotondo on the Costa Smeralda, a popular vacation spot for the rich and famous. He went on from there to bartend in Milan before returning to Sardinia and working with a spirits producer on the island making various traditional Sardinian spirits and developing a line of spirits for them. It was here that his creativity flourished and he began to develop his own recipes. His first idea was to make a Torino-style red vermouth using Sardinian ingredients including the famous Sardinian red-berried Mirto plant, in part to honor the historical connection between Piedmont and Sardinia. For Emilio's Rosso Al Mirto Vermouth the myrtle berry (Mirto in Italian) Sardinia's most famous botanical, is used and provides both color and flavor to this assertive, distinctive vermouth. Other botanicals, all individually infused in pure grain alcohol, include wormwood*, gentian root*, helichrysum*, rhubarb-root, licorice*, pompia*, cinchona, mint*, vanilla, mace, cardamom, lemon-peel, and bitter orange; the wine base is Moscato from Sardinia and the non-aromatic Cortese from Piedmont.
