Arietta, an ultra-premium Napa winery specializing in limited production Bordeaux-style blends, is owned by wine specialist and auctioneer Fritz Hatton and Caren Frutig Hatton. One of America's most celebrated winemakers, Andy Erickson, crafts the Arietta wines from carefully chosen blocks in the cooler climates of Napa Valley.
The label for the Arietta Quartet is designed around an original fanciful drawing of the instruments of a string quartet. The drawing is by future Arietta owner Libby Hatton, who at the age of eight surprised her parents with its presentation during discussions of concepts for a new label. The music behind the instruments is a fragment of the manuscript of the famous "Cavatina" movement from the Beethoven String Quartet Opus 130.
 "The 2021 Quartet wonderfully captures the vibrancy and depth of the 2021 vintage, a year of very little rainfall and warm California summer days. The wine is a blend of 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Cabernet Franc, 5% Merlot and 1% Petit Verdot, and it exhibits the full range of aromas and flavors that the blend implies. The Cabernet Sauvignon, sourced from the cooler climes of Napa Valley, drives the profile of the wine, with dark, savory tones of graphite, sage, mocha, and mint underpinning a core of black and red fruits. The Cabernet Franc provides the perfect level of spice and aromatic interest, showing notes of lavender, cardamom, and subtle fennel seeds. Rich, deep and savory, with tons of aromatic nuance, the 2021 is simply fabulous. Bright floral notes and red-toned fruit linger on the close."
