MacArthur Beverages welcomes Lisa Musso of La Spinetta to present wines from Giorgio Rivetti's estates in Piedmont and Tuscany Saturday March 8th 1-4pm
Growing up in Piemonte, Elisa Musso realized at an early age that she had a passion for food. Her father, Francesco Musso, founded a pasta making business in 1975. As a young child, Elisa spent a lot of her time helping her father in the pasta shop. She learned from her father that pasta making was a business obsessed with quality. "If you want to carry on an activity for a long time, you have to invest in quality". After her culinary career she discovered the world of fine wine and has found her second passion. Once graduated as a sommelier she started working for Giorgio Rivetti embracing the company motto:

During the last 4 years, Elisa Musso has cultivated the international reputation of La Spinetta and Contratto, one of the most influential wineries in Italy. La Spinetta wines have been awarded the prestigious 3 glasses Tre Biccheieri from Gambero Rosso 30 times—a feat few wineries can match.
Elisa says, "we don't achieve any magic in the cellar; we start with great fruit and the rest is simple".

Spiced and leathery character, with ripe dark berries, cocoa and wet earth. Dry and lightly chewy, with a medium body and fine, dusty tannins. Polished, with moderate length. Drink now or hold.

2022 Barbera di Asti Ca di Pian La Spinetta
The Barbera grape from Asti is typically known for its crisp and sharp character, especially when compared to its counterpart from Alba. However, the Ca' di Pian stands out with its rich concentration and notably balanced acidity, thanks to the 45-year-old vines and low vineyard yields. Aromas of blueberry, damp earth, and a subtle hint of orange peel emerge on the nose. This Barbera's full body and intensity are beautifully complemented by a silky smooth finish, marrying richness with finesse.

2020 Barbera d' Asti Superiore Bionzo La Spinetta
The La Spinetta 2020 Barbera d'Asti Superiore Bionzo sees fruit from vineyards in Costigliole d'Asti. This wine has a stemmy, almost vegetal quality with lots of rosemary and thyme, green curry and black pepper folded within dark, full-bodied fruit. It shows an inky color with medium-plus concentration.

2020 Barolo DOCG Garetti La Spinetta
This has lovely ripe fruit, with rich plum and peach fruit on the nose, plus hazelnut, orange and bread crust too. It's full-bodied, creamy and textured with melt-in-your-mouth tannins. Delicious finish.

Accessible and subdued, the La Spinetta 2020 Barolo Garretti sources its fruit from the village of Grinzane Cavour. It reveals a medium-rich texture with moderate definition and a mild bouquet layered with black fruits, spice and earth. There's a pretty note of dark maraschino cherry on the finish that hints at the warm growing conditions of the 2020 vintage.
