Sourced exclusively from the estate’s iconic Quinta do Vargellas vineyard, this 750ml bottle reflects the region’s quartzite-rich soils through layered dark fruit, fine-grained tannins, and a lingering mineral backbone.

Tasting notes reveal a rich evolution from vibrant youthful power to refined complexity. Initial aromas of blackcurrant compote and crushed violets give way to secondary notes of dried fig, dark chocolate, and toasted espresso. The palate remains structured yet remarkably integrated, carrying flavors of licorice, cedar, and wet stone across a velvety texture. The finish is extended and polished, leaving gentle spearmint and cocoa nib warmth that persists longer than most fortified wines of the generation.

Serving this bottle requires attention to both temperature and timing. Allow a careful decant of two to three hours to separate sediment and unlock the wine’s full aromatic spectrum. Serve between 60°F and 65°F; pouring it too warm will flatten the acidity that keeps the alcohol in check. It complements sharp blue cheeses, marzipan-based confections, or roasted almonds, making it a reliable centerpiece for post-dinner gatherings or a meaningful addition to a dedicated spirit collection.
