Marc now works alongside his son Jake, sourcing fruit from respected Napa sub-appellations, including access to Beckstoffer vineyard sites, under winemaker Maayan Koschitzky.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis bottling is sourced from vineyards on the west side of Highway 29 in Rutherford, where an ancient streambed left behind gravelly, volcanic alluvial soils, the source of the region's famed Rutherford dust. The 2019 growing season offered close to ideal conditions, giving fruit with excellent depth and concentration. Grapes were hand-harvested and hand-sorted, then destemmed and given a three to five day cold soak. Fermentation ran about fourteen days with daily pump-overs, followed by an extended maceration, before the wine aged twenty-two months in mostly new French oak.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe wine pours a deep garnet purple, with aromas of dark plum, blackberry, and tobacco leaf shaded by anise and dried herbs. On the palate it turns full-bodied and plush, layering black currant, licorice, and mocha over classic Rutherford dust and a long, vibrant finish.
