Jackson grew up on the family’s Holstein Vineyard, first planted in 1972 and one of the earliest vineyards in the Willamette Valley. His family began gradually replanting it with old-world Pinot Noir clones in the early 1990s. Today the vineyard is farmed organically and without irrigation so the roots grow deep. Granville also works closely with a handful of growers in the Dundee Hills and Eola-Amity Hills, all of them certified organic or biodynamic.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003eThe Basalt bottling takes its name from the volcanic rock under these hills. Between 15 and 20 million years ago, huge lava flows moved through the Columbia River basin and left basalt across the northern Willamette Valley. That rock weathered into the iron-rich, free-draining soils of the Dundee and Eola-Amity Hills. For the 2024, about 85% of the grapes were destemmed. The wine aged eleven months in French oak barrels, 20% of them new, and was bottled unfined and unfiltered.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003eThis is light-footed, savory Willamette Pinot Noir with wild raspberry, cherry and strawberry, accented by blood orange, bay leaf and a mineral thread.
