While cloud cover protected the vines from frost, it also created an early risk of mildew, now a recurring challenge. The mild winter and spring rain led to early, uniform budburst.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eOn April 27, the weather changed dramatically. Temperatures remained warm, but little or no rain meant exceptionally dry conditions. Over the following four months, the vineyard saw only 96 mm of rainfall, and the estate’s vines progressed quickly from one phenological stage to the next. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eExtreme conditions were kept under control, and the grapes ripened “in the shade,” preserving their energy.
