2018 Quinta de La Rosa - Vintage Port
Estate-harvested and bottled entirely under the Quinta de La Rosa label, this 2018 Vintage Port reflects the distinctive mesoclimate of the Upper Douro Valley. Sourced exclusively from family-owned vineyards near Pinhão, the wine undergoes extended maceration with full skin contact before resting in traditional wooden vessels. Completing its maturation in glass allows natural sediment to settle while concentrating sugars and phenolics, producing a structured wine distinctly separate from mass-market blends.
Tasting Notes
Aromatic layers of black treacle, ripe blackberry, and pressed rose petals lead onto a palate packed with dark plum, cocoa nib, and cured leather. The tannic framework remains pronounced yet polished, guiding toward a long, slightly saline finish that retains bright acidity despite the wine's weight.
Serving Suggestions
Rack the wine into a decanter sixty to ninety minutes before pouring to separate the deposit and fully awaken the volatile compounds. Serve slightly cool, between 16°C and 18°C (60–65°F), alongside mature blue cheeses, dark chocolate tortes, or candied pecans. Once opened, reseal with an airtight stopper, stand the bottle upright, and refrigerate to slow oxidation, consuming the remainder within twelve days.
