2023 Alain Hudelot-Noellat - Vosne Romanee Suchots (750ml)

Domaine Hudelot-Noëllat was founded in 1962 when Alain Hudelot married Odile Noëllat, granddaughter of the storied Vosne-Romanée producer Charles Noëllat, bringing together two great winegrowing lineages. The resulting estate now spans roughly ten hectares across four villages and fifteen appellations, and since 2008 has been guided by Alain's grandson, Charles Van Canneyt, whose careful, low-yield approach has pushed the domaine's already lofty reputation even higher.

Les Suchots sits beside the grand cru Romanée-Saint-Vivant and shares a boundary with Richebourg, borrowing something of that neighborhood's aristocratic character. The parcel was planted in 1920, making it among the domaine's oldest vines. Yields run low, the grapes are only partially destemmed, and fermentation proceeds gently, with the resulting wine aged in barrel where the oak integrates seamlessly into the fruit.

The 2023 offers dark berries, licorice, rose petal, and warm spice on the nose. Medium to full bodied, it is deep and textural, layered with sweet, structuring tannins that carry through to a long, perfumed finish. Pair it with seared foie gras, roasted partridge, or aged Beaufort.
