Full body, lightly sweet and bright. Bright acidity balances the sweetness. The vineyard was replanted in 1983 and, according to Olivier, is always giving sweet wines with botrytis. However, the 2013 Pinot Gris Clos Jebsal is "one of the driest we have made so far," at least it does not taste as sweet as the technical data reads: 12.7% alcohol plus 68 grams per liter of residual sugar. Indeed, the 2013 Pinot Gris Clos Jebsal is a foolishly missed Vendange Tardive. "We never thought a VT would be possible in 2013," says Olivier Humbrecht, who bottled this wine of understatement with 12.7% alcohol and 68 grams of residual sugar in August 2014. The Jebsal starts deep, precise, slightly flinty, lemon-fresh and aromatic on the nose, and indicates fine honey flavors along with stone fruit, pears, quince and grapefruit aromas. Very aromatic, lush, lovely, sweet, highly elegant and very piquant on the palate, this is a rather lean and very mineral, precise, and tension-filled VT-style that does not have the sweeping richness and opulence of the 2012 predecessor (at least at this early stadium); but does neither lack intensity nor thrill nor drinkability. Excellent and very stimulating, but you should better keep it.","Blurb3":"Pale yellow. Captivating aromas and flavors of lemon peel, apple jelly, lemon verbena, ginger, minerals and candied mango. Bright and very pure, showing an enticing crystalline quality on the long, spicy finish. Very sweet at 68 g/l residual sugar, but the 6.5 g/l total acidity provides a captivating lightness.
Score1":"94","Score2":"93","Score3":"92","SourceId1":9,"SourceId2":1,"SourceId3":3

A sensational Pauillac as well as the finest wine from this château since the 2009 (although the 2010 might have something to say about that), the 2022 Château Pontet-Canet sports a deep purple hue as well as a heavenly perfume of crème de cassis, smoke,...

Pronounced Ar-jess, this comes from the lieu-dit of Babio to the northeast of the village (Karst comes from the north-northwest). The name is an homage to the ancient Greeks, who may have been the first to make wine in Gaul; it's their word for clay. The soil here is clay-limestone, but the emphasis is on the clay, and it's the coupe-roses clay once used by Françoise's forefathers to make roof tiles. This heavy topsoil lays 1-2 meters over limestone bedrock, nurturing just over three acres of Roussanne and just over one of Grenache Blanc. Harvest is by hand, the grapes pass over a selection table, fermentation is spontaneous (20% in neutral 500L demi-muids, the rest in steel), blending takes place in early December, and bottling is in the following spring. No fining or filtration, no SO2 or other additions.
The 2022 Pinot Noir Réserve is from various types of soils but mostly granite. It opens with a very aromatic and fruity nose of perfectly ripe cherries intermingled with tart spices. Macerated for just a little bit more than a week and aged in old foudres...
From the Grand Cru vineyard of Furstentum, this is a blend of 60% Pinot Gris + 20% Pinot Auxerrios + 20% Pinot Blanc; all are co-fermented and aged in small oak barrels of which 20% are new oak. The vines are around 40 years old. The fine texture remind...

The 2021 Pinot Gris Les Caracoles is named after the Schnackator lieu-dit,
a name perhaps linked to snail-shaped fossils in the limestone soils. It is
just underneath the grand cru Furstentum, on clay and limestone; the
