This Saturday, our very own Chef Rod is pulling the corks on six exceptional bottles, and he’s built the lineup with intention. Opening with a flight of three Sancerres from the Loire Valley, showcasing the dazzling range that one appellation can deliver: the mineral precision of limestone-driven Sauvignon Blanc at its finest. Then we're heading south to Bordeaux for three stunning reds from what is widely considered one of the greatest vintages in recent memory.
The 2019 Bordeaux vintage was the talk of the wine world for good reason. A warm, dry summer gave way to a perfect harvest — ripe, concentrated fruit with remarkable freshness and balance. Critics across the board showered the vintage with superlatives, and the Right Bank in particular — St-Émilion and its neighbors — produced wines of extraordinary depth, elegance, and aging potential. These are wines that will be talked about for decades, and Saturday is your chance to taste them now, while they're still accessible, and decide which ones deserve a place in your cellar.
