2024 Patricia Green - Pinot Noir Reserve Willamette Valley (750ml)
Patricia Green Cellars was founded in 2000 by Patty Green and Jim Anderson, who purchased a 52-acre former winery estate in what would become the Ribbon Ridge AVA. Green had already built a career at Adelsheim, Torii Mor, and La Garza before the pair struck out on their own, and their winery quickly grew into one of Oregon's most prolific producers of single-vineyard Pinot Noir. Following Green's unexpected death in 2017, Anderson has continued to run the winery according to their shared founding principle: that Oregon's historic vineyard sites deserve dedicated, site-specific farming and winemaking rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.
The Reserve draws fruit from eight vineyards scattered across the Willamette Valley, among them Chehalem Mountain, Freedom Hill, Shafer, and the estate's own Ribbon Ridge plantings, with vine ages ranging from twenty-five to fifty years. Winemaking varies by lot, from fully destemmed to full whole-cluster fermentation depending on the character of each site, and the wine is aged for fifteen months in a combination of new and neutral French oak. The 2024 vintage in particular drew on an unusually large volume of exceptional barrels, giving this bottling more depth than in past years.
The wine offers pure aromas of red cherry, blackberry, and bergamot alongside notes of anise and forest floor. On the palate it is medium-bodied and spicy, with silky tannins and bright acidity that carry through to a long, nuanced finish. Its structure and perfume make it a natural match for duck breast, herb-crusted lamb, or a simple plate of charcuterie.
