A rare independent bottling of 1997 Bowmore — distilled when Islay whisky was still a specialist's game and aged a full quarter century before release. Bowmore is the oldest distillery on Islay, and its 1990s-era spirit is particularly prized for its balance of coastal peat, tropical fruit and signature brine. Expect toasty malt and salty sea air on the nose, peaty and grassy with faint liquorice and aniseed, leading to a full-bodied, salty and toasty palate with a mellowing oily mouthfeel and a long finish of delicate anise and grassy peat. A serious collector's bottle at a remarkable age.
