Founded by "flavor chaser" partners Mark and Sherri Carter, whose beverage roots trace back to award-winning careers in the California wine business before resurrecting Kentucky Owl in 2011 — Old Carter was born from an irreversible love affair with Kentucky whiskey. The nose opens with caramel, honey, charred oak, plums, raisins and tanned leather, with a rickhouse musk; the palate leads with rye grain and spice, cinnamon, caramel, marshmallow and dark fruits, finishing with a heavy, mouth-coating texture and impressive length.
