2021 Dry Creek Vineyard - Cabernet Sauvignon Dry Creek Valley HALF BOTTLE (375ml)
Dry Creek Vineyard is a family-owned winery in Sonoma County's Dry Creek Valley, and it holds the distinction of being the first new winery established there after Prohibition. Farming sustainably since 1972, the estate is now led by second-generation owner Kim Stare Wallace. The 2021 harvest marked the winery's 50th.
This Cabernet blends fruit from hillside and benchland vineyards in a valley where long, sunny days meet cool, foggy evenings, allowing grapes to ripen fully. The 2021 growing season was moderate and consistent, and drought conditions limited shoot growth. Harvest ran from early September to mid-October. The wine is 80 percent Cabernet Sauvignon, with Malbec, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot rounding out the blend, and it was aged 19 months in French, American, and Hungarian oak.
Plum, blackberry, and cranberry aromas open the wine, followed by bay leaf, sage, and white pepper. On the palate, black currant and black cherry meet hints of herbes de Provence, mocha, and fine leather, framed by firm, chewy tannins.
