The name Carillon has long stood for some of the most precise white wines in Puligny-Montrachet, a reputation built over generations and carried into this century by Louis Carillon. When the family estate was divided in 2010, Jacques took his share and continued the same exacting, terroir-first style, farming his plots with near-organic methods and a minimal touch in the cellar.

Champs Canet sits at the northern edge of Puligny, right on the border with Meursault, and Jacques' parcel here, just over half a hectare, was planted by his father in 1973. The vines now average about forty-five years old, rooted in marl and limestone soils on the mid-slope. The wine is aged roughly a year in barrel, with only fifteen percent new oak, then finished in stainless steel before bottling.

The nose is fine and floral, mixing apple blossom, white peach and a hint of fennel, with crushed stone in the background. On the palate it is open and expressive already, ample and almost unctuous, delivering peach and honey flavors with real tension and grip on the finish. Serve it with turbot in butter sauce, langoustines, or a young Comté.

92 Points
"A discreet application of oak sets off markedly floral-suffused white orchard fruit aromas. Once again there is a strikingly lovely texture to the generously proportioned medium weight flavors that deliver excellent length on the balanced finale. Like several wines in the range, this too could use better depth so some patience is recommended. With that said, Champs Canet almost always drinks well young so if you're going to pull a Carillon '23 to try, this would be a good choice"
