One of our customer and staff favorite properties!

Château d'Aiguilhe sits on a limestone plateau in Castillon, just east of Saint-Émilion, and has been owned by Stephan von Neipperg since 1998 — the same meticulous, terroir-focused winemaking team behind Canon La Gaffelière and La Mondotte. Farmed organically and biodynamically, the estate has become the benchmark producer in an appellation increasingly recognized for punching above its price point. The 2019, a Merlot-dominant blend with Cabernet Franc, shows ripe dark fruit, violet, and a touch of graphite on the nose, with a full-bodied, polished palate, velvety tannins, and real length for the appellation. Serious, Right Bank-style Bordeaux at a fraction of Saint-Émilion prices.

"A terrific effort from this large and immaculately maintained property on the clay-limestone slopes of the Côtes de Castillon, the 2019 d'Aiguilhe exhibits aromas of cherries and cassis mingled with notions of burning embers, licorice and warm spices. Medium to full-bodied, layered and concentrated, with lively acids, powdery tannins and a mineral finish, it's intelligently matured in tank and large-format oak as well as small barriques."
